Vertical bounce of two vertically aligned balls
نویسنده
چکیده
When a tennis ball rests on top of a basketball and both drop to the floor together, the tennis ball is projected vertically at high speed. A mass-spring model of the impact, as well as air track data, suggest that the tennis ball should be projected at relatively low speed. Measurements of the forces on each ball and the bounce of vertically aligned superballs are used to resolve the discrepancy. © 2007 American Association of Physics Teachers. DOI: 10.1119/1.2772286

Radar Signature Visualization of Air Vehicles
Radar signature data can be presented in one dimension, as a dBsm level as a function of vehicle aspect angle. In a synthetic aperture radar image, data is presented in a twodimensional image: as an intensity level represented by a color located in both vehicle down range and cross range. When the radar antennas are translated both vertically and horizontally, radar data is located three-dimens...
متن کاملBiofouling Behavior on Forward Osmosis Using Vertically Aligned CNT Membrane on Alumina
Nowadays, forward osmosis (FO) with many advantages in water treatment, are so attractive for researchers and investigators that the studies are going to optimize and increase its efficiency. However one of the most controversial operating malfunctions of FO process is fouling that limits the FO global application. In the following research, vertically aligned carbon nanotube (VACNT) on alumina...
متن کاملVertical heterostructure of two-dimensional MoS₂ and WSe₂ with vertically aligned layers.
Two-dimensional (2D) layered materials consist of covalently bonded 2D atomic layers stacked by van der Waals interactions. Such anisotropic bonding nature gives rise to the orientation-dependent functionalities of the 2D layered materials. Different from most studies of 2D materials with their atomic layers parallel to substrate, we have recently developed layer vertically aligned 2D material ...
متن کاملOptimized Conditions for Catalytic Chemical Vapor Deposition of Vertically Aligned Carbon Nanotubes
Here, we have synthesized vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VA-CNTs), using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. Cobalt and ethanol are used as the catalyst and the carbon source, respectively. The effects of ethanol flow rate, thickness of Co catalyst film, and growth time on the properties of the carbon nanotube growth are investigated. The results show that the flow rate of ethanol and...
متن کاملTwo-frequency forcing of droplet rebounds on a liquid bath.
Droplets can bounce indefinitely on a liquid bath vertically vibrated in a sinusoidal fashion. We here present experimental results that extend this observation to forcing signals composed of a combination of two commensurable frequencies. The Faraday and Goodridge thresholds are characterized. Then a number of vertical bouncing modes are reported, including walkers. The vertical motion can bec...
